Here is some explanation how to connect a IC485S between the computer and the RS485 device.
There are two DIP switches on the IC485S; one DIP must be set to the [DCE] position, and the other one should be set to the [TxRTS, Rx/RTS]
This is the half- duplex application, so the software of the RS485 device, which is installed in the computer, must controls the RTS signal of the RS232 interface to switch the IC485S between the Transfer and the Receive modes.
If there is no any software for controlling the RTS signal in the computer, IC485S will not fit the application. For this situation, please use IC485AI to substitute the IC485S, for IC485AI can automatically switch itself between the Transfer and the Receive modes.
